Michael J Fox responds to Rush
I know, I know. I say I don’t like to wax political on the blog but, in a sense, I’m not. The reason why I decided to post this youTube video of Katie Couric interviewing Michael J Fox about the ad that you’ve already seen a million times, including here. Is because of just how powerful it reinforces the message of the first video, for me. It’s also interesting to see him discuss the issues at hand from the perspective of a man whom I respected (however sophomoric that respect may have been) in my past.
I haven’t seen(heard) the “impression” that Rush Limbaugh has done of MJF. So, I won’t comment on it. I will however say that I know Rush Linbaugh to distort facts and act in a callow manner on frequent occasion. That again is my opinion. That is also why I haven’t seen “the evidence”. Because I pay little to know credence for lying hypocrites.
Again, I digress from my point. My point is that MJF is speaking from a place that my previous article was coming from; science. Yes, he accepts that we need to discuss these scientific issues socially, but we need to talk about them and if we decide as a nation that the further of scientific thought is a priority then we need to step up and honor that and not hide behind the false truths of some policy makers. I, personally, don’t believe some even have a clue as to the science involved in certain forms of stem cell research. For instance, the bill that was Mr. Bush’s first veto banned stem cell research in areas where harvested embryos were going to be destroyed to continue to let them be destroyed without donating them to science. Surely, we can donate our organs to science, why not donate that other living material that is needlessly going to be wasted when it may do someone somewhere some good.
I’m not really for human cloning or organ harvesting but that’s not what being debated. Those topics should also be debated…as appropriate. This is not an appropriate issue to include them in.
Rush should, in my estimation of the events as reported to me by many friends and news outlets, be ashamed of himself. He lied again and this time to a man who doesn’t deserve it. He should at the very least apologize since, I’m quite sure he has no plans to attend STFU this fall.
